Aldridge, 2019"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The first book in the series <a href=\"https:\/\/www.salticid.com\/bookblog\/2019\/08\/estranged-ethan-m-aldridge-2018\/\">blew me away<\/a>. This one (the second in at least a trilogy?) I loved also, but  of course it didn&#8217;t have quite the same element of surprise: I knew it would be great, and it is. The characters of the brothers-by-Fay-kidnapping continue to evolve, and the human parents and especially older sister Alexis get to take the stage as well. Alexis is who I would have wanted to be as a kid, and she gets to learn magic too! My favorite detail is the visual representation (drawings in speech bubbles) of the spells, and the ways that Alexis&#8217; attempts go awry but are still useful. The view of Fay society and class struggle is great.
