FACT-CHECKING THE SILLY PILLOWS LEGEND!

[an old Web page from 1999]

1. "THE SILLY PILLOWS ARE A NORWEGIAN GROUP."

Not true! Though the Silly Pillows' record and CD releases have originated in Norway, Germany, and Japan, The Silly Pillows are actually a U.S. band.

2. "THE SILLY PILLOWS ARE A PENNSYLVANIA BAND? A NEW YORK BAND?"

Well, you decide. Jonathan Caws-Elwitt and his wife (now-retired original SP co-vocalist) Hilary put down roots a decade ago in rural northeastern Pennsylvania, just across the border from the Upstate New York city of Binghamton. Michael E. Fiato and Charlie Zayleskie live in Binghamton. Dave Joachim lives a couple-three hours south in Allentown, PA (closer to Philadelphia), and Dave's place is where the band actually rehearses. Sam Elwitt and Belinda Miller live in New York City. (NYC, which is some 180 miles from the Binghamton area, is the only city in which the Pillows have regularly performed.)

Footnote: The earliest Silly Pillows home recordings were made in the Boston area, where Jonathan and Hilary lived at the time.

3. "JONATHAN WRITES VIRTUALLY ALL THE SONGS BY HIMSELF."

Those days are long gone! Currently every member of the band has some songwriting credits.

4. "SAM LEARNED TO YODEL OVER THE INTERNET."

Unconfirmed but believed true.
